Bedford Get Together on October 14
October 7, 2017 – BEDFORD, VA Bedford Get Together, on Saturday, October 14, 10 am-4 pm at Edmund Street Park in Bedford, will be a celebration of the communities shared values.  In addition to a main stage, headlined by Jonathan Hayden (aka DJ Showtime) and an oral history project called “Our Bedford Story,” a wide variety of activities for kids and adults will be offered throughout the day. 
During the Bedford Get Together, the field at Edmund Street Park will be divided into values group areas.  In each area, individuals and organizations whose mission expresses those values will be offering interactive activities for all ages.  Some highlights of what will be offered include:  COMPASSION-KINDNESS-SERVICE presentations on palliative care and advanced directives by Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation, sound immersions from Radiance Wellbeing, and request a prayer with Prayer Outreach Ministries; CREATIVITY-IMAGINATION-CULTURE a public art project by Bedford County Public Schools Arts Program, tai chi and kung fu demonstrations by Jesse Teasley, and local artist demonstrations; FAIRNESS-JUSTICE-EQUALITY voter registration, Bedford County Department of Social Services interactive games, and Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church Social Justice Committee; FAMILY-FRIENDS-NEIGHBORS watershed demonstrations by Claytor Nature Center, Bedford YMCA, and bead bracelet making with Girl Scout Troop 2087; HEALTH-WELLNESS-HARMONY yoga for kids and adults, Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation Dementia Obstacle Course, and cooking demonstration with Chef Mike Shea; HONESTY-INTEGRITY-RESPECT talks on bullying by Blue Ridge Martial Arts, discussion with Bedford Bulletin’s John Barnhart and Rick Howell, and Hoops Kids basketball workshop; ORDER-SAFETY-SECURITY presentations and demonstrations by Bedford Fire and Rescue, Bedford Sherriff’s Department, Bedford Police Department and Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital.  A full list of scheduled events and participants can be found on the event website –
