DESCRIPTION:BEDFORD\, VA   The Avenel Foundation will host its Eighth Annual Henry Walton Memorial Derby Day party at the historic Avenel home in Bedford on Saturday\, May 5\, 2018 from 4:30 PM   8:00 PM. Guests will enjoy watching the greatest and fastest two minutes in sports while also enjoying mint juleps\, cocktails\, and heavy hors d'oeuvres. Guests are encouraged to wear their Derby Day attire\, including hats\, and participate in the Derby Day Hat Contests for men and women\, and a new Best Dressed Couple Contest. The winners will receive mint julep cups from Arthur's Jewelry. Tickets are $40 each\, of which $25 is tax-deductible. Tickets may be purchased at www.lynchburgtickets.com\, Scott & Bond\, Arthur's Jewelry\, The Bedford Welcome Center or from any Avenel Board of Directors member. The Avenel Foundation is a nonprofit organization that rescued the historic Avenel home from decay and destruction in 1985. Today\, The Avenel Foundation restores\, preserves and protects historic Avenel\, a Bedford legacy and unique landmark\, for educational and community enjoyment.
