Program Coordinator Overview:

This role is responsible for the creation and management of programs for children and adults that support Bower Center for the Arts (BCA) mission and strategic goals.  The Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining budget and records pertaining to the program expenditures, implementing policies and procedures, and organizing the activities and agenda for the program. Programs should be developed in conjunction with the Executive Director, other BCA staff, BCA education, events or performance committees, local school systems, home school parents, local community groups and interested adults. The objective is to seek out opportunities to bring art programs to a diverse audience in both traditional and non-traditional ways and locations.  
 

General Responsibilities
- Create, develop, and manage art programming  for BCA including but not limited to youth and adult classes, homeschool programs, summer camps, concerts & performances, fundraising events and arts outreach.  
- In coordination with the Executive Director, develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for all programs, monitor progress, and evaluate performance.
- In coordination with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and volunteer committees:
• Develop and manage the coordination and construction of quarterly class schedules.
• Develop and manage annual concert & performance schedule.
• In coordination with staff and board of directors, recruit volunteers from the community and organizations BCA serves to assist with the development and operation of art programming.  
In coordination with staff and future volunteer coordinator recruit and train volunteers to help with events.
- Supervise volunteers and interns related to program offerings when applicable.
- Recruit, orient, support and evaluate a large and diverse group of instructors for both youth and adult classes.
• Issue and manage contracts with instructors, including completion of background checks.
• Provide Instructor training regarding policies and procedures.
- Work with other staff members to coordinate educational programming with other activities at BCA such as exhibits & performances.
- Administer or oversee fund raising operations for programs as well as community outreach, including but not limited to sponsorship opportunities.
- Provide program & event descriptions and registration information to Communications Coordinator for promotion on BCA website and social media.
- Collaborate with staff to market programs via traditional and social media.


Qualifications/Education/Experience:   
  • Preferred education in Program or Event Development, Art, or Non-Profit Development.
  • Experience in planning and managing programs & events, including volunteers.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, data base management, page layout, printers, copiers, and content management systems.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Professional appearance and courteous manner.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills to include business correspondence and communications with the general public.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and work independently.
Compensation:
 
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.  Schedule will be adjustable based on program & event schedules.
Starting salary range is $30,000-$32,000 based on education and experience.
 
Two weeks of paid vacation are included after six months have been completed in the position.
