About CTE in Bedford County Public Schools
Career and technical education (CTE) provides students with the academic, technical, and real-world knowledge, skills, and experience they need to be prepared for a variety of career options. CTE programs are personalized, hands-on, and let students explore different career fields, such as manufacturing, human services, information technology, and more. In addition to the 15 pathways offered at Susie G. Gibson Science & Technology Center, Bedford County Public Schools boasts over 60 CTE courses, with each high school offering a variety of "career clusters." About the CTE Expo
Founded in 2017, the CTE Expo is a collaborative, hands-on career exploration event hosted by the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce and Bedford County Public Schools, with the 2026 Expo proudly presented by the Bedford County Office of Economic Development. On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, all Bedford County 8th-grade students will visit the Susie G. Gibson Science & Technology Center to explore CTE courses, programs, and career pathways available in high school and beyond, helping them make informed decisions as they plan their 9th-grade schedules. Organized by career clusters, the Expo brings together local businesses, educators, and students for interactive 5–10-minute activities that showcase a wide range of skills-based careers, strengthen workforce connections, and allow participating businesses to further engage by touring classrooms, meeting instructors, and connecting with current CTE students.
