Handling Grief During the Holidays
Although the holidays are supposed to be a time full of joy and good cheer, for many people the season brings a feeling of sadness and loss. Grief for family who have passed or are far away make the holidays more bitter than sweet. Losses of relationships, job, or health are magnified and painful. Expressing these thoughts often causes guilt for not being in the proper “holiday mood” and leads to feelings of isolation. These feelings are normal but need to be addressed in order to be managed.
All Points EAP is hosting a one-time Handling Grief During the Holidays session to meet on Tuesday, November 18th from 5:30 pm until 7 pm at All Points’ Lynchburg, VA main office. This small group, led by Susie Owen, will discuss ways to cope with personal grief and loss during the holiday season. Reserve a seat by emailing Jennifer at J.Quinones@allpointseap.org or calling the office at 434-845-1246. There is no cost for this meeting. Be sure to encourage coworkers and family members that have sustained a loss this year, or may still be having difficulty this season from a previous year, to sign up today as seating is limited.
