Bower Center for the Arts seeks a creative and detail-oriented Exhibits Coordinator to lead the planning and execution of our exhibition program. This part-time position works closely with the Executive Director and Exhibits Committee to develop, organize, and install exhibitions that reflect and advance Bower Center’s mission to inspire and engage through the arts.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and coordinate Bower Center’s annual exhibition calendar (including local, regional, and national shows) in collaboration with the exhibits committee.
• Manage artist communications, open calls, submissions, and juror coordination.
• Oversee the intake, installation, and de-installation of artwork.
• Prepare exhibition materials, including labels, brochures, and online content.
• Support reception planning, award ceremonies, and cross-programming initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure a positive experience for exhibiting artists and visitors.
Qualifications:
• Background in Art History, Arts Administration, Studio Art, Museum Studies, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2–5 years of gallery, museum, or arts organization experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Hands-on experience with art handling and installation (some lifting required).
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Canva; familiarity with database systems helpful.
• Enthusiasm for working collaboratively in a small, community-focused arts environment.
Compensation & Schedule:
• Part-time, approximately 40 hours per month (avg. 10 hours per week)
• Flexible schedule based on exhibition needs
• Starting salary: $10,400 annually
